Latest Toilet Partition Building & Fire Code Compliance Information
There has been a revision in the International Code Council (ICC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) model codes as they pertain to toilet partitions and urinal screens. These codes include the 2009 and 2012 editions of the ICC’s International Building Code (IBC), and International Fire Code (IFC), and the 2012 editions of the NFPA’s Life Safety Code® (NFPA 101® and Fire Code NFPA 1). The revision in the ICC and NFPA model codes is as follows:
Interior finishes using polypropylene (PP)¹ and high density polyethylene (HDPE) must be tested in accordance with NFPA 286 Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Evaluating Contribution of Wall and Ceiling Interior Finish to Room Fire Growth (the room-corner test).
¹Polypropylene(PP) was added to the IBC and IFC with the 2012 editions.
